“Fugleflugt” is an art project we made for an exam at Sonic College. It depicts the negative effects humans have on nature. It explores the human tendency to destroy nature either by bending it to our own will or just being too curious to not leave ecosystems alone. We built and taped contact microphones to the floor that picked up the sound from walking on the stone path. The sound from the stones then altered and distorted the birds chirping as you approached the sounds. In the middle of the exhibition we put an egg in a bird's nest that, when picked up, triggered a dystopian soundscape that filled the room with eerie drones and birdsounds. Maybe it’s best just to let the egg stay undisturbed in its nest ;-) (This was a group project where everyone participated in everything from sound design to building the exhibition and soldering contact microphones)
